Insect declines and pesticides

We cordially invite you to a thought-provoking event featuring Professor Dave Goulson, an esteemed expert in the field of bee ecology.

Date: 09 May

Time: 8-9pm

Online

In this free talk with Q&A, Professor Goulson will shed light on the devastating impact of neonicotinoid pesticides on bees and pollinators.

It is concerning that the UK government has allowed the emergency use of these banned pesticides for the third consecutive year in England, despite their harmful effects. Neonicotinoids have been shown to impair bee learning and memory, impacting the entire colony’s ability to forage for food. Furthermore, the pesticides get into the pollen and nectar, exposing the entire hive to their detrimental effects.

The effects of neonicotinoids are not limited to bees alone; birds consuming even small doses have been found to suffer from weight loss and delayed migration.

Join us to learn more about campaigns in your area and the actions you can take to protect our pollinators and the intricate web of life that we all depend on. You will have the opportunity to engage in a lively discussion and ask questions of Professor Goulson, a prolific researcher who has published over 300 scientific articles on bee ecology and conservation. He is also the author of several acclaimed books, including A Sting in the Tale, which was a Sunday Times bestseller and has been translated into seventeen languages. His latest book, Silent Earth, was published in August 2021.

Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the crucial role pollinators play in our ecosystem and learn how you can take action to protect them.
